Louie Bluie Festival First Amateur Adult & Youth Art Competition
A juried art competition will be held in conjunction with the 2008 Louie Bluie Music & Art
Festival for amateur adult and youth artists. Amateur artists are defined for this competition as any artist
whose primary source of income is not derived from sales of his or her art and whose art has not been
published or sold in galleries.Cash prizes and ribbons will be awarded, and entries will be exhibited
during the festival.
Competition rules:
a) Open to artists who reside in Campbell, Claiborne, Scott and Anderson Counties only
b) Submitted art must be paintings in any medium, and subject must relate to life/ landscape of the region
(in other words, no ships at sea, no space vehicles, no desert scenes, no skyscrapers, etc.)
c) Art must be original (not copies) created by the entrant.
d) Art surface should be varnished, or behind an appropriate protective covering (plastic or other
non-breakable protective cover preferred to glass). Art does not have to be framed or ready for hanging
e) One entry per division (each artist may enter all four divisions).
Four divisions: wildlife and pets; landscapes (including structures); florals and still life; and other.
Three age categories: (youth ages 9 - 13 years; youth age 14 - 18 years; adults age 19 and up).
To Enter: Entries must be hand delivered to the Pavilion at Cove Lake State Park Friday, June 13
between the hours of 9 a.m. and 12 p. m. No late entries will be accepted. Entry forms will be available at
the Pavilion June 13.
Entry Fee: An entry fee of $5 per submission is charged, payable at submission time, check or cash (no
credit cards).
Judging: Friday, June 13 after 12 p.m. Artists are not permitted to attend judging. Results will not be
made available until 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14. All art submissions must remain on exhibit until 7 p. m.
